Maureen Karig joined UMSL in 2010 as a Senior Research Associate in the Center for Business and Industrial Studies.  In September, 2017 she was appointed Assistant Teaching Professor in the Supply Chain & Analytics Department.  Prof. Karig currently teaches ‘Introduction to Supply Chain Management’ and ‘Global Supply Chain Management’.   She also serves as the faculty liaison for the Student Supply Chain Club.

Before joining UMSL, Ms. Karig was Director of Export Business Development and Support for Incentive Group A/S, a Danish-owned global, cleaning equipment manufacturer.  In that role she had responsibility for the company’s U.S. exports, worldwide.  Prior to that, she led a multicultural project team integrating sales support operations following Incentive’s acquisition of a U.S. based company.  In this strategic role, she spent several years working with the company’s European subsidiaries to harmonize customer support policies globally.

Maureen is passionate about international trade. She started her career in international business with a small freight forwarding company in Cleveland.  Over the next twenty five years she held management roles with increasing responsibility all along the manufacturing supply chain.

Maureen earned a Master of Arts Degree in Slavic Studies from Boston College and a Master of Business Administration from Thunderbird, The School of Global Management.  She enjoys traveling and studying languages (she is conversant in Russian).  She and her husband are active with the St. Louis German School Association and they spend as much time as possible in Berlin every year where she continues to work on her German language skills.
