Joel Miller has more than thirty years of experience as a banker, a bank consultant, and an expert witness in banking matters.  His functional banking experience includes commercial lending, operations and technology, retail banking, treasury management, and financial management.  For the better part of a decade he worked for KPMG LLP as a consultant.  In this role he assisted large financial institutions on issues of strategy, technology, profit improvement, and merger integration.  While at KPMG he founded, grew, and successfully managed a community bank consulting practice in the Midwest region.  That success led to expansion of that practice model nationwide.  Since retirement he serves as an expert witness and litigation consultant in lawsuits involving financial institutions (including Fortune 1000 companies).  In some instances of litigation his client opposes a financial institution.

Joel has a BS in Business Administration from Auburn University and an MS in Industrial Management from The Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech).  He completed a three summer course of study at the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University (SMU).

He enjoys teaching at UMSL.
